PTE (Pearson Test of English)

Pearson Test of English Academic is a completely computerized English Language Ability test. The test is planned for non-native English speakers or people whose mother language is not English. Prepared and conducted by Pearson, the test is acknowledged across a wide area of universities and institutions of higher education around the world andpractically in all English speaking countries like USA, UK, Canada and Australia.
Pearson also conducts a PTE General as well as a PTE Young Beginners Exam. This guide, however, is only anxious with PTE Academic, the exams applicable for candidates planning to study overseas.

There are various things that differentiate the exam from its close contestants – IELTS and TOEFL. And the first and primary distinguishing feature of the same is the scoring design and the results. As the tests are entirely computerized, the results are announced very quicker, in just 5 days. This makes it appropriatelysuitable for students who are in a moment of a rush.
The computer based test attentions on day to day English rather than great level English language and tests a student on theirskill to effectively understand the language as spoken every day. The multi-level grading structureconfirms a better understanding of the student’s ability in English language.

All students are eligible to write the exam. As it is a general test, there is no superior subject eligibility. A student must be atleast 16 years of age to write the PTE. Also, in case the student is below than 18 years of age (i.e. 16 or 17 years) at the time of registration, student must provide a paternalapproval. The form for the same is offered on the website. Students have to download the same, fill it, get it signed from parents and send it across to the mentioned address.
Indian students must have their valid Passport as without valid Passport student would not be allowed to enter the test centre.

Registration Process

Candidates can register for the test by logging on to the official website for PTE Academic here. Start with creating a Pearson Account. Once registered yourself on the website, you would be sent login information on the email id provided in about 24 hours. When you get the login information, you can go back to the website and check the test dates offered in the centres near you, choose the one that suitable for you best and book a test.
It is not important for a student to instantly book a test. A student can start by registration and book a test later. However, we recommend that a student should book a test well in advance to make sure the accessibility of seats in the nearest test centres.

PTE Academic is accepted crosswise a large number of higher education institutions around the world. Nations that mainly accept the test as an English Language Proficiency Test for admission to their Universities include

The test is also acknowledged for Australian Visa.
While previous the same was also acknowledged for UK Visas, this is not the case anymore. PTE Academic is not accepted for UK Visa since April 6, 2015. If a student has written the exam before the informed date, he/she is still eligible to apply for a Visa for UK till November 2015. If, however, you have written the exam before 6th April 2015 and plan to apply for UK Visa in say January 2016, then this might not be eligible.
Also, in case a student is applying for a Tier 4 institute (for PG courses), in UK, the PTE Academic tests would be acceptable in case the University validates the tests. Students are recommended to check with the University’s International Office for further clarification, if required.
